This event is an effort of Student Affairs Department with the help of CCD Department, in engaging with the staff and student of SMART College to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri together. This is also an effort in order to spread joy and foster a strong relationship between the students and staff. We also planned the activities to ensure all students can celebrate Raya even if they are away from home.
As we had to ensure the activities done complied to the Covid-19 SOPs, we had conducted most of the activities Virtually. We kicked off the first activity which was supposed to be Raya Open House by sending packed Raya themed meals to the students who remained in the Hostel. This activity was handled by Ms Liza and Mr Fred. The students were so happy and grateful to receive the meals as they felt sad they could not celebrate Raya with their family back home.
The next activity that we carried out was Raya Fashion competition which we opened to both Staff and Students. The competition was done virtually where staff and students sent pictures of their best Raya attire. For the staff category, students had to vote for the best dressed staff. The student’s category, winners were picked by the CCD department
Additionally, we also did Raya themed Essay competition titled “Kenangan Syawal”. Students had to submit their 250words essay and we picked the best five essays to be read live. We then picked the 3 best speakers as winners of the competition. We also carried out “Sampul Raya Competition” where students submitted designs for Raya themed envelopes. We had picked the winners based on the most creative designs.
The closing ceremony for Raya Week was done simultaneously with the closing for Sudirman Competition. After the singing competition, we announced the winner for all the Raya themed competitions we had hosted during the week. The participation from students were good and the students was so happy to join in the Raya celebrations. Although most of the activity had to be carried out online due to the pandemic, however, this did not dampen the joy of the celebrations.
